FEATURED PROJECT
The existing booster pump system at PDAM Tirta Moedal Kota Semarang operated using a conventional motor control system without Variable Speed Drives (VSD), limiting the ability to adjust pump speed according to operational requirements. The project required replacing the existing conventional control system with a new VSD-based solution for three 55 kW booster pump motors, enabling more flexible and efficient pump operation. The key challenge was to ensure a smooth transition from the existing system while integrating two operating modes: remote control through Modbus TCP and local control through HMI and physical pushbuttons, ensuring compatibility with the water utility's operational requirements.
TSC implemented a 3 × 75 kW VSD Control Panel, providing engineering, system integration, motor parameter configuration, and on-site testing and commissioning. The control system was configured with two operating modes: Mode 1 – Remote Operation: Start/Stop commands and speed reference through Modbus TCP communication. Mode 2 – Local Operation: Speed reference through the Human Machine Interface (HMI), with Start/Stop commands operated through physical pushbuttons. The integration allows operators to select the appropriate control method according to operational requirements.

PT Tirta Surya Cipta (TSC) successfully delivered a 3 × 75 kW Variable Speed Drive (VSD) Control Panel for the Booster Pump System at PDAM Tirta Moedal Kota Semarang. The project was awarded by VEI B.V. – Dutch Water Operators through its Water Operator Partnership (WOP) program, supporting the development and improvement of water utility infrastructure in Indonesia. The system provides flexible pump operation through both remote and local control modes. Testing and commissioning were successfully completed on 7 October 2026, including parameter configuration for three 55 kW pump motors and verification of the configured control functions.
